Post Treatment Instructions
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION FOR DERMAL FILLER CLIENTS
- Immediately after your treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness, and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a day or two. If the inconvenience continues or if other reactions occur, please contact our office.
- The initial swelling after treatments may last longer than two days. Some patients experience swelling for about a week and the injected area can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be the result. It may take 2-4 weeks to even out. *Treating bruising depends on the body's normal tendency to bruise. It takes about 2 weeks after treatment for the bruising to lessen. Although you need not worry about bruising, you must take some steps to prevent the bruising. Don't touch the treated area after the procedure (especially the first 6 hours). But you can apply the cream to reduce potential pain. Clean the area to prevent bacteria from getting into the treated site. Yes, if you’re not comfortable about the bruised spots, you can apply makeup to cover them bruises as much as you can. But be careful! Don't press down with force. It can brush the area further. Also, your makeup may not cover the bruises completely.
- Some fillers may cause some temporary bruising. In rare cases there has been instances of lumps or granulomas
- After 3-6 weeks, we may want to re-evaluate the need for additional treatment. Vertical lip lines will not go away completely, but they will soften in appearance.
- After any treatment with fillers, you may FEEL lumpy and/or bumpy for a few weeks or even months afterwards. This is normal. The key is not to SEE the lumps.
- Avoid touching the treated area for 3-4 hours following the injection. After that, light make-up can be applied, and the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
- Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (i.e., sunbathing or tanning bed) or extreme cold.
- If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site. You may take Tylenol for discomfort.
- Please avoid alcohol and exercise for 12 hours following the injection and be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- You may gently apply the ice pack provided to you to the treated area for 10 minutes an hour for the first 3 hours following the injection. Apply lightly, do not use too much pressure. The ‘shiny’ side of the ice pack feels best.
- Finally, fillers gradually dissolve. The correction does not last forever. Many people choose to be treated again within 4-6 months of the original treatment.
- After 3 hours when Lidocaine wears off, if you feel any excessive heat or burning in or close to the injected areas, please call Cosmo Care Inc. immediately.
- Feel free to contact Cosmo Care Inc. with questions, comments or concerns at any time following treatment. We want you to safe, happy and completely satisfied.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION FOR BOTOX CLIENTS
1. Avoid manipulating, massaging, rubbing in the area of the injection site for several hours. This can cause the Botox solution to migrate or move around, making it more likely to impact areas beyond the desired muscles.
2. Avoid exercising or excessively using the targeted muscle for at least 4 hours after the Botox injection procedure.
3. Avoid hot shower, intense exercising and exposure to heat for 4 hours.
4. Avoid sun exposure
5. Avoid alcohol, Advil, Tylenol, Fish Oil, naproxen (Aleve), Aspirin, Vit. E and herbal tea (to avoid bruising).
6. Avoid laying down or bending forward for at least 4 hours after the injection procedure. These actions can cause migration of the solution that can lead to complications and undesired outcomes or effects.
7. While you may see results in as little as 48 to 72 hours after injection, this is not typical. Many patients do not notice full impact from the treatment for 7 to 14 days. You should wait at least 30 days before deciding if you want additional treatment to avoid over-treating an area.
8. Although exceptionally rare, an allergic reaction to Botox is possible. If you notice skin redness of an extreme nature, excessive swelling or a developing rash, call the office immediately or arrange to be seen by a physician. The same is necessary if you experience puffy or very swollen eyes, a severe headache or other adverse reactions. Previous treatments can cause antibodies to develop that can lead to undesired reactions.
9. Sometimes there may be post-injection hyperpigmentation in some skin types
